The MPI Group, part of the Stackhouse Poland Group, has launched a new website including dedicated areas for each of the Medical Indemnity Schemes it supports.
The MPI Group is a speciality specific Medical Defence Organisation (MDO), arranging individually tailored professional indemnity insurance including an in-house medico-legal advisory service for doctors practising in the UK.
Medico-legal Director of the MPI Group, Juliette Mellman-Jones commented, “This is a tremendously exciting period in the development of the MPI Group and the Indemnity Schemes we support.
It is truly a team effort and we would not be able to offer a best-in-class product without the input of our fantastic Clinical Boards, our in-house insurance brokers, lawyers, medical indemnity advisers and our partner insurers. I am delighted to launch our new website and am already planning the next phase of our development.”
The MPI Group currently support Schemes in the following specialities; ENT, general surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, plastic surgery and urology. They also assist direct members of the MPI Group outside the Schemes. Existing scheme members are now able to access a secure, personalised online area to access their insurance documents and news particular to their specialty. Prospective members can utilise their exclusive on-line application process.
Unlike most MDOs, which offer a discretionary, occurrence-based membership, the MPI Group arranges individual contracts of insurance on a claims-made basis. However, each Scheme is a mutual, exclusive to a particular specialty, owned and governed by the members of that Scheme.
For example, the ophthalmology Scheme, AOOSIS (Association of Ophthalmologists Specialist Indemnity Scheme), has the invaluable benefit of a Clinical Board including practising ophthalmologists who liaise directly with our in-house insurance brokers and in-house lawyers to ensure that the professional needs of the ophthalmology community are met and understood.
It is for this reason that one satisfied member of AOOSIS, Professor Christopher Liu, was happy to confirm that he had received “outstanding commitment to service combined with a truly cost-effective premium.”
