Claims Handler – Berkhamsted

Overall objective:
 To handle the claims of the Company’s clients quickly, fairly and efficiently

Main duties/responsibilities:
 To assist clients with the presentation of valid insurance claims
 To drive insurance claims settlements
 To negotiate and obtain settlement of claims, liaising with clients, insurers, loss adjusters and any other relevant parties, as necessary
 To provide Senior Client Managers, Client Managers with claims management information, as required
 To attend and make presentations at client meetings, as required
 To comply with relevant regulatory requirements and the company’s procedures
 To keep clients informed of progress at regular intervals
 To ensure that claims records are complete and kept up to date
 To maintain good working relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers
 To undergo training in line with agreed objectives and keep up to date with technical, legal and market developments
 To maintain and develop personal knowledge and skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
 Immediately to advise your Manager of any problems which may fall outside your authority, level of experience or which in any way detract from your ability to achieve your work objectives
 To undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by your Manager or the Directors

Knowledge/understanding required:
 At intermediate level
 The main insurance cover, the company’s procedures and rules and, to the extent it relates to the Job, regulation and compliance.
 Insurance covers, the company’s procedures and rules and, to the extent it relates to the Job, regulation and compliance.

IT knowledge/understanding required:
 Intermediate – Acturis – to the extent that it relates to the Job, Microsoft Excel
 Microsoft Outlook, the internet, Microsoft Word

Authority levels:
 Claims handling referring large claims to the Senior Claims Executive and advising your Line Manager.

Skills required:
 The ability to apply knowledge and understanding to the Job
 The ability to prioritise and organise own workload
 The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
 The ability to work as a member of a team
