Alpha Insurance A/S (‘Alpha’) policyholders are being urged to urgently arrange alternative insurance cover, after the company was declared bankrupt yesterday. Alpha was an insurance firm authorised and regulated by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and operating in the UK on a freedom of services basis.
The collapse of Alpha leaves policyholders without insurance cover from 9 May, and guidance from the FCA states that all UK policyholders need to find alternative cover as soon as possible. The Danish Guarantee Fund, a scheme set up to compensate for failed insurers’, will only pay for claims filed before 9 May.
